Anyone who knows me in real life will know that I’m a complete book worm. I always have a book on the go and like to read from a diverse range of subjects. So, on that basis I decided to start The School of Balance Online Book Club. If you have any books you’d like to nominate let me know.
On the second Monday of each month I’ll post this month’s read. I’d love for you all to join in and let me know your thoughts on the chosen book.
This Month’s Read
Based on the techniques used by Olympic gold medalist, but made relevant to anything you want to achieve in life. This month’s book is Will It Make The Boat Go Faster by Ben Hunt-Davis and Harriet Beveridge and can be bought on Amazon here. I’m looking forward to reading it!
How to Kill a Mocking Bird is one of my favourite books of all time. My copy is pretty bashed from being read so many time, so what else could I chose for this month’s read – Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee, which can be bought on Amazon here. It’s not out until 14th July so you may have to wait a few hours to start reading!
Is this Britain’s answer to ‘Lean In’? ‘Strong Woman: The Truth About Getting to The Top’ by Karren Brady, which can be bought from Amazon here.
May’s book club read is for anyone who wants to make changes to their life, but struggles to overcome their inner resistance.
Switch: How to Change When Change is Hard by Chip and Dan Heath which can be purchased from Amazon here.
This month’s book club pick is a little bit different. If you want to play you need to head over to your bookcase (or kindle) now and pull out all of the books you haven’t yet read. Every single one of them. Then:
1. Lay them out on the floor around you (or in a collection if you’re on an e-reader).
2. Close your eyes. Turn around a few times.
3. Pick one at random. That’s your book club read this month. WHATEVER it is. No cheating!
4. Let us all know below what you pick.
For February the book club read is A Long Way Gone: The True Story of a Child Solider by Ishmael Beah, which can be purchased from Amazon here.
Also, as it would have been Roald Dahl’s birthday on 13th September and his books are so wonderful there is extra credit is you re-read your favourite. I’m going to struggle to pick!
For August the book club read is The Curious Tale of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon, which can be purchased from Amazon here.
