My Mask (and the One Woman Conference)

Every week day morning would be the same. The alarm would go off (whether I was in my own bed or a hotel bed). I’d shower and get ready then:

– Zip up the shift dress
– Pull up the ladder resistant tights
– Add the high heeled shoes
– Pick up the Mulberry (complete with laptop and life)

Oh and of course don’t forget the mask. Put that mask on.

Every single morning. Every single morning I would put my mask on before going to work. The mask that turned me into ‘business woman’. The mask that allowed me to survive in that gruelling, stressful, adrenaline pumping, addictive environment. It allowed me to take part in corporate life without them seeing the real me. I didn’t see how the softer, gentler side of me could possibly work in the male dominated environment I thrived in.

I now understand that my softer side can and will thrive in that environment. I understand the need for the harder emotions. But now, I also understand that the softer emotions are valid and of true value in that environment.

I wish I had have met Joanna Martin and attended the One Woman Conference then. Maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference (maybe I wouldn’t have been ready to hear it).

Joanna is incredibly relatable and has been there, done it and got the T Shirt. In such a short period of time she showed me that as a woman I can still be myself and I can still be in business and thrive. I attended alone and met some amazing women and had the most amazing time.

If you want to attend you can find more about the next session here.

Mask not necessary.

There is a also free webiniar tomorrow night if you want to find out more you can register here.
